For non-aggressive storage, the most common areas of damage are:- Above ground storage tanks:- · Floors (both inside and out) · Tank externals Underground/buried tanks:- · Internal base areas Under the Prime Safe brand name, Corrocoat offers a range of tailored solutions, based on a composite coating system originally developed for the repair of large diameter storage tanks with holed floors. This structural coating has been extensively used to create a ‘tank within a tank’ for applications such as underground storage tanks at petrol filling stations, creating an inner skin to prevent leakage even if the outer shell becomes perforated. The system comprises:- · Two layers of structural coating applied to the tank internals (after surface preparation) · Interstitial area filled with a porous foam, but joined together by small connecting ‘pillars’ · Interstice monitored using either vacuum evacuation or filling with monitoring fluid and over pressurisation The tank is therefore under constant pressure test, monitored by a control unit, which in turn activates a local alarm or is connected to a remote station via a modem link.
